The Story Behind the Writing of Horizons Without Boundaries

Horizons Without Boundaries is the third installment of the Project Pegasus series. In this book, I aimed to continue the story without any significant time gap between One Way Roads and Horizons Without Boundaries. The decision to include President John F. Kennedy and his experience on PT 109 was deliberate from the start. However, the challenge lay in finding a way to integrate these events seamlessly into the narrative, considering Dr. Függer and Jamie had never returned to 2008 in the previous book.

To resolve this issue, I crafted a fictional world in 2012 where international political tensions were running high, leading to the outbreak of World War Three. Bonesteiner, Jacques, and Alan, familiar characters from We Know Your Name and One Way Roads, reappear once again, and believe that Dr. Függer is the only individual who can fix the timeline in 1940 during the Battle of Britain.

I had a need to bridge the gap between 1940 and 1943, so I delved into brainstorming this quite deeply. After several weeks of contemplation, I stumbled upon an intriguing connection: M42, a sub-basement of Grand Central Terminal, and Nikola Tesla. This discovery provided the missing link that enabled me to devise a solution.

I decided to make the story take an unexpected turn as Dr. Függer learns in 1943 JFK was killed, and President Nixon was elected in 1960 causing nuclear war between the USA and USSR. I was thinking about how Dr. Függer would navigate dangerous obstacles and overcome formidable challenges while maintaining the delicate balance between 1940 to 1960. Through meticulous planning and attention to detail, I had to find a way how Dr. Függer to save JFK and return to 1948.
