The Story Behind the Writing of One Way Roads

I started One Way Roads in 2008 which is a novel that blends the themes I enjoyed: World War Two, time travel, and U.S. intelligence. I was working a mundane corporate job during the day and spending my nights reading books, primarily focusing on the CIA and World War II. In the beginning, I found myself drawn to certain aspects of the war, particularly the European Theater and the Battle of the Bulge and what ifs.

As I delved deeper into my research, I became fascinated by the intricacies of the conflict and the unpredictable outcomes that had far-reaching consequences. My attention was on the possibility of the Germans having won the Battle of the Bulge and obtained and utilized the atomic bomb before the United States. This hypothetical scenario having sparked my imagination, and I pondered what if time travel could have prevented that.

These imagined events led me to create a compelling and relatable protagonist, Dr. Erik Függer, a Senior Analyst for the CIA, placing him in a moral dilemma that would test his values and morals. He would find himself faced with the daunting task of keeping Adolf Hitler alive, all for the sake of preserving the timeline where the Germans never developed and used the atomic bomb.

Over eight years, I dedicated myself to crafting a compelling narrative that showcased Dr. Függer's expertise and passion for both history and putting right what once went wrong. Drawing from my extensive research, influential individuals I met, and unexpected twists of World War II, ensured that his tale was both authentic and thought-provoking.

One Way Roads is a testament to my dedication and perseverance, as it successfully combines three of my greatest interests into a compelling and thought-provoking novel. Through my meticulous research and imaginative storytelling, I invite readers on a journey through time, exploring the darkest corners of history and challenging them to question their own beliefs and morals.
